What we do, and what it involves

If what you need isn't listed, call and ask. We'll tell you honestly whether it's our trade.

Services

  1. A roofing crew staging bundles of shingles beside a ladder at a house

    Roof replacement

Complete tear-off to the deck, decking repair, synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield at eaves and valleys, new flashing, ridge vent and shingles. Two to three days on a typical Naperville house.

  2. A roofer working along the ridge of a house against an open sky

    Repairs and leak tracing

We find the actual entry point rather than patching the wet spot below it. Chimney and wall flashing, valleys, vent boots, skylight curbs and storm-lifted shingles.

  3. A roofer in a safety harness climbing a ladder to inspect a roof

    Storm damage inspection

Hail and wind documentation with dated photographs, in the format an adjuster expects. We'll meet the adjuster on the roof with you, and we'll also tell you when a claim isn't worth filing.

  4. Rainwater running off the lip of a house gutter

    Gutters and downspouts

Seamless aluminium formed on site, hung with hidden hangers and pitched properly. Most roof “leaks” in older subdivisions are really water backing up behind a full gutter.

  5. A turbine roof vent turning against a clear sky

    Ventilation and ice dams

Balanced intake and exhaust, baffles where the insulation has been pushed into the soffit, and ice-and-water shield where the dams form. This is why the same houses on the same street ice up every winter.

  6. An inspector noting a roof's condition on a clipboard outside a house

    Pre-sale roof certification

A written condition report with remaining life and photographs, for a listing or a buyer's inspection. Usually turned around in two business days.

Comparing your options

Nearly every replacement in Naperville comes down to these three. Here is the honest trade-off, including the one we'd put on our own houses.

Ask which of these we'd put on our own house. For most Naperville subdivisions it's architectural asphalt — metal is a wonderful roof and a poor investment if you're moving in six years.

What things cost

Published prices for the work that can honestly carry one. A replacement depends on pitch, layers and square footage, so that gets measured, not guessed.

Questions we get before booking

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. We come out, look at the job, and give you a written price. There's no fee and no obligation.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Ask and we'll send the certificate before we start — you should be asking every contractor who bids.

Do you use your own crews or subcontractors?

Ask us directly and we'll tell you plainly which parts of the job are done by whom.

What happens if you find something unexpected?

We stop and call you with a photo and a price before doing anything that wasn't on the estimate.

How long is the work guaranteed?

Our labor carries a workmanship warranty in writing, separate from whatever the manufacturer covers on the materials.

Not sure which one you need?

That's what the free visit is for.
